FAQ

How are you different from other media trainers?

We are coaches. Our approach is to work with you on what you are doing right and cultivate it. We help you formulate an approach and strategy that is true to who you are, not what you think you should be. Yes, we work on technique, but first we help you build a message that genuinely represents you and your offer.

What do you mean by the term higher value?

The “higher value” is the basic emotional need or want that is being addressed by you or your product. It is at the core offer of your brand. For example, a toothpaste company is not just selling a tube of product. They are selling confidence, sex appeal and/or health. Behind their message is a higher value, a basic human desire.

Can you get me on TV?

Traditionally, people hire publicists to promote them, which includes media placement. We work with you before you hire a publicist, or in conjunction with PR professionals, to make sure you are ready. We help you prepare for your appearance to make sure your message and presentation are well received.

How does a typical session work?

Media and Branding Consultations are done in person. We meet to discuss your needs, your practices and your objectives. Then, we begin an interactive process and go through a series of coaching exercises, brainstorming and white boarding of messages you think are important. Each process is unique and the follow up depends on your needs, which we determine together.

Executive Coaching is done either over the phone or in person typically for one hour. Together we build a safe, supportive and collaborative environment. You are the one who sets the goals and ultimately your progress depends on how you participate.

What is unique about your executive coaching?

We combine two different coaching techniques. The first is ontological coaching, which is based on the OAR model. (Link) This processes examines the observer you are and how your view of the world influences your actions, and ultimately the results you think you want. The second is media coaching which looks at how you communicate and present your personal brand.

How can a TV producer make a good executive coach?

A producer coordinates all the behind the scenes activity, including the needs of the crew, on camera talent and guests. This requires keen interpersonal skills and the ability to make sure everyone’s needs are met and that they can perform in a safe, secure environment. Plus, a producer is constantly called to problem shoot. And, we too work in business – the entertainment business, which is filled with all kinds of characters. As a ringmaster of sort, we have the skills found in a good executive coach.

How do I contact you for an initial consultation?

Simply go to the contact tab and tell us a little bit about your needs. It is important to include what you are looking for and your time frame.

What is the client profile form?

For those of you who have engaged our services, we have a client profile form that is available under the contact tab. This questionnaire provides us with useful background information on you and your offer. All forms are confidential.

What about group coaching?

Group coaching is a great way to work with others and build a safe and supportive micro-community. It is also an affordable alternative to individual or personal coaching. Each participant, however, must be willing to participate fully and authentically with others in the group. Working in this environment offers wonderful possibilities. Potential group coaching clients are screened in advance.
